THE DRIVING FORCE
The Ninth Step toward Riches
POWER is essential for success in the accumulationof money.
PLANS are inert and useless, without sufficientPOWER to translate them into ACTION. This chapterwill describe the method by which an individualmay attain and apply POWER.
POWER may be defined as “organized and
intelligently directed KNOWLEDGE.” Power, asthe term is here used, refers to ORGANIZED effort, sufficient to enable an individual to transmuteDESIRE into its monetary equivalent. ORGANIZEDeffort is produced through the coordination of effortof two or more people, who work toward a DEFINITEend, in a spirit of harmony.
POWER IS REQUIRED FOR THE ACCUMULATION
OF MONEY! POWER IS NECESSARY FOR THE
RETENTION OF MONEY AFTER IT HAS BEEN
ACCUMULATED!
Let us ascertain how power may be acquired. Ifpower is “organized knowledge,” let us examine thesources of knowledge:
a. INFINITE INTELLIGENCE. This source of knowledge may be contacted through the proceduredescribed in another chapter, with the aid of CreativeImagination.
b. ACCUMULATED EXPERIENCE. The accumulated experience of man, (or that portion of it which hasbeen organized and recorded), may be found in anywell-equipped public library. An important partof this accumulated experience is taught in publicschools and colleges, where it has been classifiedand organized.
c. EXPERIMENT AND RESEARCH. In the field of science, and in practically every other walk oflife, men are gathering, classifying, and organizingnew facts daily. This is the source to which onemust turn when knowledge is not available through“accumulated experience.” Here, too, the CreativeImagination must often be used.
Knowledge may be acquired from any of the foregoing sources. It may be converted into POWER by organizing it into definite PLANS and byexpressing those plans in terms of ACTION.
Examination of the three major sources of knowledge will readily disclose the difficulty anindividual would have, if he depended upon his effortsalone, in assembling knowledge and expressing itthrough definite plans in terms of ACTION. If hisplans are comprehensive, and if they contemplatelarge proportions, he must, generally, induce othersto cooperate with him, before he can inject into themthe necessary element of POWER.
GAINING POWER THROUGH THE
‘‘MASTER MIND”
The “Master Mind” may be defined as: “Coordinationof knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of adefinite purpose.”
No individual may have great power without availing himself of the “Master Mind.” In a precedingchapter, instructions were given for the creation ofPLANS for the purpose of translating DESIRE intoits monetary equivalent. If you carry out theseinstructions with PERSISTENCE and intelligence, and use discrimination in the selection of your“Master Mind” group, your objective will havebeen half-way reached, even before you begin torecognize it.
So you may better understand the “intangible”
potentialities of power available to you, through aproperly chosen “Master Mind” group, we will hereexplain the two characteristics of the Master Mindprinciple, one of which is economic in nature, and the other psychic. The economic feature isobvious. Economic advantages may be created byany person who surrounds himself with the advice, counsel, and personal cooperation of a group ofmen who are willing to lend him wholehearted aid,in a spirit of PERFECT HARMONY. This form ofcooperative alliance has been the basis of nearlyevery great fortune. Your understanding of thisgreat truth may definitely determine your financialstatus.
The psychic phase of the Master Mind principleis much more abstract, much more difficult tocomprehend, because it has reference to the spiritualforces with which the human race, as a whole, is notwell acquainted. You may catch a significant suggestionfrom this statement: “No two minds evercome together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to athird mind.”
Keep in mind the fact that there are only twoknown elements in the whole universe, energy andmatter. It is a well known fact that matter may bebroken down into units of molecules, atoms, andelectrons. There are units of matter which may beisolated, separated, and analyzed.
Likewise, there are units of energy.
The human mind is a form of energy, a part of itbeing spiritual in nature. When the minds of twopeople are coordinated in a SPIRIT OF HARMONY,the spiritual units of energy of each mind form anaffinity, which constitutes the “psychic” phase of theMaster Mind.
The Master Mind principle, or rather the economicfeature of it, was first called to my attention by AndrewCarnegie, over twenty-five years ago. Discovery of thisprinciple was responsible for the choice of my life’swork.
Mr. Carnegie’s Master Mind group consisted ofa staff of approximately fifty men, with whom hesurrounded himself, for the DEFINITE PURPOSE ofmanufacturing and marketing steel. He attributed hisentire fortune to the POWER he accumulated throughthis “Master Mind.”
Analyze the record of any man who has accumulateda great fortune, and many of those who haveaccumulated modest fortunes, and you will findthat they have either consciously, or unconsciouslyemployed the “Master Mind” principle.
GREAT POWER CAN BE ACCUMULATED THROUGH NO OTHER PRINCIPLE!
ENERGY is Nature’s universal set of buildingblocks, out of which she constructs every materialthing in the universe, including man, and every formof animal and vegetable life. Through a processwhich only Nature completely understands, shetranslates energy into matter.
Nature’s building blocks are available to man, inthe energy involved in THINKING! Man’s brain maybe compared to an electric battery. It absorbs energyfrom the ether, which permeates every atom ofmatter, and fills the entire universe.
