History 历史
Since opening on February 6， 1983， the Guangzhou White Swan Hotel has received over 40 heads of state and government， including Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom， President Bush of the United States， Chancellor Kohl of Germany， Kissinger， Castro Ruz， Sihanouk and Lee Kuan Yew. Mr. Deng Xiaoping， chief architect of China’s reform and opening-up， paid historic visits to White Swan Hotel three times and he wrote an inion for the hotel. It’s a unique one among so many star-rated hotels.
自1983年2月6日开业以来，广州白天鹅宾馆已经接待了40多位国家政府元首，其中有英国女王伊丽莎白二世，美国总统布什，德国总理科尔， 基辛格，卡斯特罗·鲁兹，西哈努克和李光耀。中国改革开放的总设计师邓小平更是三次莅临“白天鹅”，并亲笔题字，这在国内中外合作的星级宾馆中绝无仅有。
The hotel was accepted as the first Chinese member of “The Leading Hotels of the World” on July 1， 1985， and was appointed 5 stars by the Chinese Government in February 1990.

The White Swan Hotel topped “China’s 50 best hotels” in 1996. It was named “China’s best well-known hotel” in 2008.

Facilities 设施
Restaurants of the hotel offer a wonderful variety of Chinese and Western food spread over the public areas from the first floor to the third floor. The Jade River Restaurant， with its exquisite garden decor， is famed for its high standard Cantonese cuisine. The multi-function Banquet Hall International， which can accommodate a maximum of 600 people， is equipped with sound and recording facilities as well as simultaneous translation equipment. This is the ideal venue for international conferences， receptions and exhibitions. The Coffee Shop and the Grill Room serve excellent Western cuisine in an elegant ambience with river view. The Provincial Restaurant is specialized in the regional cuisine of Beijing， Sichuan and Shanghai. A Japanese Restaurant offers special Japanese food， reminiscent of the traditional tastes of Kyoto.

背景知识
白天鹅宾馆的设计继承了中国传统园林（Traditional garden）与岭南传统园林设计的精华，中庭（atrium）以壁山瀑布为主景的焦点，形成别有洞天的岭南风情（Lingnan Customs），整体有历史气息与文化内涵融入建筑空间的功能。
白天鹅宾馆于上世纪80年代初，由霍英东为主投资，莫伯治、佘畯南等一代岭南建筑大师设计而成，是在现代岭南建筑中将外来建筑形式与中国传统建筑文化相结合的一个成功作品。
