永日方戚戚，出门复悠悠。
女子今有行，大江溯轻舟。
尔辈苦无恃，抚念益慈柔。
幼为长所育，两别泣不休。
对此结中肠，义往难复留。
自小阙内训，事姑贻我忧。
赖兹托令门，仁恤庶无尤。
贫俭诚所尚，资从岂待周？
孝恭遵妇道，容止顺其猷。
别离在今晨，见尔当何秋？
居闲始自遣，临感忽难收。
归来视幼女，零泪缘缨流。
Seeing My Daughter Off， to Be Married
into the Yang Family

These days to grieve for you I never cease.
Now you’re leaving， the more my cares increase.
You， a girl， will take a boat light and frail
Against the great river’s current to sail.
You were young when you two were motherlees
And have been brought up with more tenderness.
You the elder took care of your sister.
Now how you cry at parting from each other！
All these make me the more saddened at heart，
But you are bound to go and soon to start.
You’ve lacked maternal advice since childhood，
How can you serve mother-in-law well， I brood.
You are going to a good family，
They’ll forgive you your fault， if there’s any.
To be thrifty is a virtue indeed，
To have rich dowry， is there any need？
Be filial and modest as a lady；
Your looks or acts should with manners comply.
This very morning you bid us good-bye，
When shall we ’gain see you with our own eye？
Usually， myself I try to console；
Excited， I just lose my self-control.
When I’m home and see my little daughter，
Down along my cap-strings my tears shower.
