The time was last night when the wind blew and the stars shone
bright;
The place was west of Painted Bower and east of Cassia Hall.
Though we couldn’t be winged phoenixes making coupling flight,
Our hearts linked t’gether, answering Sacred Unicorn’s call.
Warm with wine of spring and over the red wax candle light,
Playing games “Send the Hook” and “Guess the Covered”
were we all.
But the drum-beat called me to Orchid Tower without delay,
So like a leaf of tumbleweed, I had to spur away.
