A Chance Meeting of Old Acquaintances of My Native Place at an Inn

My Native Place at an Inn

With the autumn coming, the moon is full again;
The city walls are shrouded in the night curtain.
Here in the south of the River we chance to meet,
Fearing yet the occasion is but a dream sweet.
Roosting magpies startle in trees as the wind blows;
Insects weep amid dewy grass when cold it grows.
Wayfarers far from home should be drunk at all times;
Staying together, we fear the morning bells’ chimes.
