万壑树参天，千山响杜鹃。
山中一夜雨，树杪百重泉。
汉女输布，巴人讼芋田。

In myriads of valleys grow trees scraping the skies；
On thousands of hills are echoed the cuckoos’ cries.
A down-pouring rain overnight in the mountains
Has turned tree-tops into overlapping fountains.
To pay tax Han women “tong” cloth would contribute；
For taro fields Ba people would bring a lawsuit.
It’s Wen Weng that civilized them o’er and again.
That you will surpass the ancient sage is certain.
