Texas A&M University (often referred to as A&M or TAMU) is a coeducational public research university located in College Station， Texas， United States. It is the flagship institution of the Texas A&M University System， and the largest university in Texas. The Morrill Act provided land grants to colleges that sought to focus on agricultural and mechanical arts， but without excluding science， the classics and military tactics. It is also one of the only public universities to have a full-time Volunteer Corps of Cadets. Texas A&M also stands out as a land， sea and space grant institution， reflecting the wide range of ongoing research projects taking place at the university. The school opened on October 4， 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. To reflect the institution"s expanded roles and academic offerings， the Texas Legislature renamed the school to Texas A&M University in 1963. Famous alumni include Governor Rick Perry， coaches Gary Kubiak and Gene Stallings， Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow， actor Rip Torn， talk-show host Neal Boortz and Wal-Mart USA CEO Eduardo Castro-Wright.

System： The university has highly ranked graduate offerings through its Dwight Look College of Engineering， Mays Business School， and College of Education and Human Development. Dwight Look College of Engineering has the largest number of students， representing around 20 percent of the entire student body. The next largest schools are the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Other divisions of Texas A&M include the George Bush School of Government and Public Service， and the Colleges of Architecture， Science， Geosciences， Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Presidential library： In 1997， the school became the home of the George Bush Presidential Library. Operated by the National Archives and Records Administration， it is one of thirteen American presidential libraries. Former President George Bush remains actively involved with the university， frequently visiting the campus and participating in special events. The mission of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is to preserve and make available for research the official records， personal papers and artifacts of President George W. Bush， to support democracy， promote civic education and increase historical understanding of our national experience through the life and times of George Bush.

德州农工大学毕业生有一个仪式：数千名大四学生携手漫步校园，最后一次参观他们最喜爱的地点。德州农工大学的乔治布什图书暨博物馆收藏了不少美国前总统任期内推广国际外交的珍贵史料，是游客必访的景点之一。
